The group of Associates of Holy Cross in Aotearoa-New Zealand has a history beginning in the early 1960's. A visit by an OHC monk compelled some clergy (men only in those days) to become Priests Associate in the Confraternity of the Holy Cross, which evolved into being the Associates of Holy Cross as it is today, now with both lay and ordained men and women as members.

The Associates of Holy Cross in Aotearoa-New Zealand are Benedictine Oblates in communion with the monks of the Order and other professed Associates worldwide. We reflect a life lived by the Rule of Saint Benedict, with its core imperative to read the scriptures prayerfully and to listen for the voice of God in the whole of life.

The Associates of OHCNZ structure themselves as a federation of individuals called a Chapter. The current members are listed below. In addition, we have a number of 'Friends of OHCNZ' who support us in prayer and occasionally participate in our Annual Retreat and other events. OHCNZ is recognised by the Anglican Church in Aotearoa-New Zealand and is listed in the Clerical Directory. As such, OHCNZ participates as a member of the Religious Life Convocation, convened by The Rt Rev'd Victoria Matthews on behalf of the Diocesan Bishops.
